About the NurseLove FoundationGet to Know Monika
Hello, My name is Monika and I have been volunteering most of my life. As the eldest daughter of immigrant parents, I also understand the importance of selflessness and helping others. From a young age, I was deeply inspired to give back—whether it was organizing neighborhood canned food drives, carrying a 90s fanny pack stocked with Lisa Frank Band-Aids for scraped knees, or looking after my younger siblings. My mother, recognizing my innate caregiving spirit, encouraged me to explore nursing, which ultimately defined my career path. I have been working within the healthcare field since 2001 and in nursing since 2011. I believe in making positive, long-lasting impacts in my community by educating future nurses, fundraising for various causes, and guiding foster guides to exploring their future paths.
I enjoy various outdoors activities including hiking, camping, swimming and pushing my physical limits. I am proud to have successfully climbed Kilimanjaro, swam from Alcatraz, and rode my bike through Mexico. I also enjoy traveling and have made my way to over 40 countries.
